Indications

VIPOK® lenses are worn overnight to temporarily reduce myopia (nearsightedness) in eyes without eye disease, and are removed during all or part of the following day. See the package insert for the approved range of myopia and astigmatism.

Results are temporary and vary

Orthokeratology gently flattens the front of the cornea while you sleep. The effect is temporary: the lenses must be worn overnight on a regular schedule, or vision returns to its level before treatment. Results vary from patient to patient, and not every patient reaches the same level of vision. Vision can change during the day, which can affect activities such as driving at night.

Do not wear Ortho-K lenses if you have

• An infection or inflammation of the front of the eye, including any active infection of the cornea (bacterial, fungal or viral)
• Any eye disease, injury or abnormality that affects the cornea, conjunctiva or eyelids
• Severe dry eye, or reduced corneal sensitivity
• A disease elsewhere in the body that may affect the eye or be made worse by contact lens wear
• An allergic reaction of the eye that contact lenses or lens solutions may cause or worsen, or an allergy to any ingredient in a lens care solution
• Red or irritated eyes

Warnings

• Problems with contact lenses and lens care products can cause serious eye injury. Eye problems, including corneal ulcers, can develop quickly and lead to loss of vision.
• Remove your lenses and contact your eye care practitioner right away if you have eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, redness or any other eye problem. Don’t wear the lenses again until your practitioner says so.
• Sleeping in contact lenses raises the risk of serious eye infection (ulcerative keratitis), starting with the first night. Smoking raises the risk further.
• Follow the full rubbing and rinsing times on your lens care products. Fill the lens case with fresh solution every time and never reuse solution. Never store lenses in, or rinse the case with, tap water, bottled water or saliva. Clean and rinse the case between uses and replace it regularly.
• Lenses are shipped to your practitioner non-sterile and must be cleaned and conditioned before use.
• See your eye care practitioner on the schedule you are given, at least twice a year, even when your vision seems good.

Possible side effects

Stinging, burning, itching or other eye pain; less comfort than when the lens was first put in; a feeling that something is in the eye; excessive tearing; unusual discharge; redness; less sharp or blurred vision; rainbows or halos around lights; sensitivity to light; and dry eyes. Any of these can be a sign of a serious condition such as infection, corneal ulcer or inflammation inside the eye. Remove the lenses and get prompt care from your eye care practitioner.

Chemicals in the eye

If any chemical splashes into your eyes, flush them with tap water right away, then remove the lenses and contact your eye care practitioner or go to an emergency room without delay.

Report a problem

Tell your eye care practitioner and VIPOK (customer_service@vipok.com, 626-282-6658). You can also report serious problems to the FDA MedWatch program at fda.gov/medwatch or 1-800-FDA-1088.

This policy explains how VIPOK Inc. (“VIPOK”, “we”) collects, uses and shares personal information through this website and the VIPOK doctor portal. Contact us at customer_service@vipok.com or.

Information we collect

• Inquiries: the name, email, role, practice or company, country and message you send through the contact form.
• Doctor interest forms: the name, credentials, practice, location, email, phone, the Ortho-K brands you fit, and the message you send. The form is delivered by email through Formspree (formspree.io), a form service that also keeps a copy of each form for VIPOK.
• Doctor accounts (planned): your email, password (stored only in hashed form by our sign-in provider), name, professional credentials, license number and issuing state or country, NPI number if you give it, and practice details.
• Orders (planned): what you order and where it ships. Orders identify patients only by your own reference number. Please do not send us patient names or other patient health information.
• Technical information: our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and scripts from cdnjs (Cloudflare), which receive your IP address when your browser requests them. We do not use advertising cookies.

How we use it

To answer inquiries; to verify practitioner licenses with the issuing licensing boards and, for US practitioners, the NPPES NPI Registry; to run the doctor portal, certification and orders; to keep the site secure; and to meet legal and regulatory obligations, including medical device reporting.

How we share it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers that run the site for us (hosting, sign-in and database, email delivery); with authorized VIPOK distributors when needed to fulfill an order in your region; when the law requires it; or as part of a merger or sale of the business.

How long we keep it

Your rights and choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, and close your doctor account, by emailing us. Depending on where you live (for example California or other US states, the EU, Taiwan, Malaysia or mainland China), you may have additional rights under local law. We will respond within the time the law requires and will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Patient health information

This site is not designed to receive patient health information. Please don’t send it through forms or email.

Children

This site is intended for eye care practitioners and adults, including parents. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security and international transfers

We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Information is processed in the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your country.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the effective date.

Eligibility

Accounts are for optometrists and ophthalmologists holding a current license in good standing. You agree to give accurate license information and to tell VIPOK promptly if your license status changes.

Confidential materials

The reference chart, lens selector, fitting guide and case reports are confidential and for your own clinical use. Do not share your login or distribute these materials.

Clinical responsibility

You are responsible for patient selection, fitting and follow-up, using your own clinical judgment, within each lens’s approved indications and the laws where you practice. The chart and selector are aids, not a substitute for clinical evaluation.

Certification

Complete the VIPOK certification course before placing your first order.

Patient information

Identify patients on orders only by your own reference number. Do not send VIPOK patient names or other patient health information.

Adverse events and complaints

Report adverse events and product complaints to VIPOK promptly at customer_service@vipok.com. You may also report to the FDA MedWatch program.

Orders, pricing and exchanges

Contact VIPOK at customer_service@vipok.com for current pricing, payment, shipping, warranty and exchange terms.

Suspension

VIPOK may suspend or close an account if license status cannot be verified or these terms are not followed.

Known limitations

Some legacy images, such as corneal topography maps and fluorescein photos, are low resolution and carry information that is only partly described in text. We are replacing them with higher-resolution versions and fuller descriptions.
